For complicated reasons that I'm not going to go into right now, the JWs view it as very important that Judas left BEFORE the bread and wine was passed around.
But did he?
Have you found a way to get into the "complicated reasons" yet? I am quite curious as to what you mean. If this is the breaking grounds to explain that there were 12 disiples and not 11 as WT teaches, I think that would be an amazing discovery.

maybe some how I can use this. I am going to have to study that a bit further. I want to make sure I understand it completely before I talk about that to anyone. Thanks for sharing.

they have missed "several" (three) meetings.

I have a very devout JW friend who is the most genuinely caring person I know. A while back, a woman in her congregation was having a lot of physical problems and finally received the diagnosis of MS. She was fairly young and was completely devistated.
My friend called and told this young woman how sorry she was, and went to her house that evening just to keep her company and offer support. However, she was criticized by other JWs because she missed the meeting that night!!! She told me the story, and was feeling guilty about missing the meeting, and I told her NOT to be. I told her that we spend 5 hours a week at meetings, learning how to be Christians (at the time she wasn't aware that I was inactive.) What you did that night, I said, was actually being Christian. What is the point of learning about being loving, and then dismissing an opportunity to act loving when the need arises?
My friend agreed with me. But when she said this to others who criticized her missing the meeting, they told her that she could have offered support some other time. In other words: You may not show your concern for others if it interferes with the meetings.
GGG
That just totally made me upset that they would do something like that. So, if the person was in their death bed and only had who knows how long to live, rather than spending every moment with them you are supposed to " offer support some other time"

THE propitiation vs A propitiation
by bite me inin reading my bible again, in mine 1 john 2:2 "he himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.".
nwt changes the to a .
that would mean that there is more than one involved, and not one and only?

Any ideas of this?

I am VERY curious as to what these changes in the organization are. Maybe I can find out before my friends and family members do!

I've seen many NWT and not one has even an underline in it let alone notes written in it.

Why are they missing meetings?
Whatever the reason, it's valid. Support them in their decision to take care of themselves in whatever way they are doing it.
If they are not at meetings, they are probably taking a rest, rejuvenating, working, caring for ill children/parents/selves.
Whatever the reason, encourage that specific behavior and activity. It *is* important. And if you let them know that it helps prevent burnout, they will not feel so guilty the next time the feel the urge to miss again.
Missing meetings is a sign of someone finding the importance of balance and 'normalcy' - what ever that is!!
Yes??
-Aude.
They have been taking care of family, yet they feel guilty for not going to the meetings.
Sounds like your friend is still communicating with you, so thats good.
I think it is wonderful that they are still in communication with me. I don't know what I would do if they were not, and for my family that would suck if they ever stopped having anything to do with me for trying to save them.
I've heard a few comments recently that the JWs are suggesting that armageddon is particularly close - that this is why Jehovah arranged for the two different magazines and other changes in the organisation. Of course this is the age old strategy that the borg uses to keep everyone on their toes.
Oh, really? What kinds of comments? Do you have paraphrases or exact quotes of what was said to give this idea? I am currious.
The continued false sense of urgency ties into the control the organization wants to maintain. Loyalty to the organization - the #1 doctrine of the WT Society. The best way to keep them loyal is to keep them lapping up your spiritual milk (skim though it is).
Loyalty to the organization is all I see from those I know in the organization. Aside from them going to the meetings, I do not see them reading the Bible. I cannot even read the Bible around them because I'm afraid/embarassed. I don't want them to approach me and say that I'm doing it all wrong. I've made notes in my Bible (during my own study's) of what the verse means to me, not in a way that seems like I am trying to make my own interpertation, but just my own feelings of it. I do have an idea though, to leave it setting out one day, to see if they pick it up and kinda read my notes. But then again, they might not touch it because it is not a NWT.. it is a NKJV.
Would it be wise or a good idea to leave it out so they stumble on it some day?
Maybe others who have helped their friends to see the danger of the JW religion can chime in with more specific help.
If there are any here, please share your experience and ways that worked for you!
That is all for now. Thanks for your advise.. Please take a look at my responses. Thanks again.
